Date: Saturday, 7th April
Event: Two Oceans Ultra Marathon 35 miles
Location: Cape Town, South Africa
Course Type: Reasonably flat first 17 miles (in relation to the second half), followed by an EXTREMELY hilly 17.8 miles
Special Features : The course loops around a large part
of Cape Town taking in all the sights. As its title suggests the race also takes you along both shorelines of the Atlantic Ocean and Indian Ocean
Of Interest : Personally for me I was fortunate enough to see part of this race about four years ago on a trip out to SA and always hoped I would be able to attempt this very challenging race, one day.
Length : 56km (approx 34.8m)
Official Website : www.twooceansmarathon.org.za (Page very slow to open)

This course profile shows the heights the runners will be climbing during the race - to give you an idea of scale I have added in the Statue of Liberty (Based on a height of 305ft) compared to the height of 215m at this point in the race. By which point I should have covered 28 miles

Need I say more - what an amazing race (Obvioulsy I may change this quote on my return from the event!)

As you may not know this appearingly mad race is actually very popular with over 7,500 people entering this year and a further 10,500 entering the half marathon.

However, of the people who start the Ultra marathon at least 10% don't make it to the finish line!
