"Probably one of the most beautiful and extraordinary marathons ever. A little tougher than a usual course - but no extraordinary experience is obtained ordinarily."

Well thats the offical desciption which I think sums it up pretty well.

So many of you have been kind enough to give me extremely vivid detials of what the race will entail from your friends and associates who have seen or taken part in this event. Well so much for the positive mental attitude! More seriously this has been described by so many of you as a wonderful place to visit - although only one person has volountered to enter this one with me (thanks Helen).

The organisers are very keen to ensure that all foreign entrants experience as much of China as possible, during their visit and therefore only allow entrance to the race with a package deal that includes tours of the surrounding area's. As a result I am looking forward to the overall time spent in China and not just the race.

Obvioulsy I'll try to pop into one of those small little B&Q's out there, just to see what the difference is.

FYI I found this article from Runners World. Its 2001 but still very relevant and hopefully will describe to you what the race will be like:
