Volunteers
As one of B&Q’s nominated charitable causes this year, my chosen charities are able to collect in store on four nominated weekends during the year. The last weekend was Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd December 2007. With 320 B&Q stores, that means we are looking for a lot of volunteers – if you think you may be able to give up even a few hours during this weekend, to get down to your local B&Q and take donations from the public, I’d be delighted to hear from you. This is a great way for CF to boost their funds and the more people that they have collecting, the more funds they will be able to raise.
Through the large amount of feedback I’ve already received, I know that there are a lot of you out there that want to support me by participating in some of the same races as me or in your own events whilst raising money for CF – this at least proves that I’m not alone in my madness by taking part in such grueling activities. If you would like CF sponsorship forms for any events you are participating in, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
I was joined by eight other runners raising money for CF Kids of Portsmouth in the Eastleigh 10k, which was terrific. If you are entered into any of the same races as me and are raising money for CF Kids or CF Trust, please let me know before hand – it’s a massive moral boost to find out others are running for such a great cause. I’d also like to try and get your information up on this site, together with how much you’ve raised – so I can keep track of the cumulative difference peoples’ efforts are making this year.
If you are feeling more ambitious, you could organise your own event. This doesn’t have to be running – I met a couple last week who baked cakes and sold them and then donated the proceeds they made. Before embarking on my challenge this year, I occasionally visited the odd car boot sale where a stall was gifting the proceeds to charity. It won’t be long before summer is upon us, why not organize a BBQ and charge your friends a couple of quid to come along? The possibilities are endless – all it needs is your imagination.
Whatever you’re inspired to do, please let me know what is, when and how much you’ve raised and I’ll try and get the information up on this site. For anybody who organises something that they find to be hugely successful in terms of fund raising – please let me know and I’ll endeavor to share the idea/successes in other places around the country.
Of course if the sound of all this tires you out – there is the easy option – to just sponsor me.
However you to choose to support,
please keep checking this page, which will be updated regularly with new
ways and ideas for you to become involved.
