B&Q’s very own marathon man, Bryce Duff, completed his first race this weekend at Llanelli in Wales. The 31 year old who works at the home improvement company’s head office in Southampton, travelled nearly 200 miles to participate in the second annual Llanelli road race – completing it in just 1h42m and positioned 197th out of the race’s 927 entrants.
Bryce has been awarded a year off work by B&Q, from his role with them as a Management Accountant, to participate in races around the world to raise money for Cystic Fibrosis. He plans to run 600 miles on six continents this year and will participate in races throughout the UK as well as further afield such as Beijing, Sydney, Rio, Cape Town and New York to name but a few.
Bryce says: “The weather was exceptional, the sun was shining, with a cooling wind in the last six miles, making this a great half marathon event along Llanelli’s coastal path. This is my first visit to Llanelli and I’ve had a wonderful weekend. If the rest of my races this year are as enjoyable as this one, then I’m going to have a terrific year.”
At the finish line Bryce met with Councillor Roy Llewellyn from Carmarthenshire County Council (pictured) who thanked him for travelling so far to support the race and wished him luck on his journey ahead this year.
Bryce then popped into Llanelli’s B&Q, to meet with the store manager, Karl Perry, (pictured) where the pair were aptly photographed by the water butts. Bryce explains: “Water is essential for re-hydration purposes in running – I think most runners appreciate the value of water.”
Bryce has decided to re-enter Llanelli’s half marathon next year to see how much his time has improved, once he’s been running for the year and completed 600 miles.

Notes to Editors
Bryce decided to take the tough challenge for his two young nephews,
Aiden (6) and Morgan (3), who both suffer with the disease. He is raising
money for two charities – local charity, CF Kids of Portsmouth and
nationally, with the CF Trust. CF Kids of Portsmouth, to which both Bryce’s
nephews belong is a newly established local charity to help improve the
life, day to day, of all those children within Portsmouth suffering with
Cystic Fibrosis. The CF Trust is the national charity, who are working
on behalf of all suffers in the UK to find a cure. For more information
