New Forest 10 mile, Poole

What a weekend for running yesterdays weather in London has continued today to make perfect if not slightly hot conditions for running.

As an event that always rates highly on its feedback and is always full - I was particularly looking forward to this event.

The idiliac setting and well organised marshalling in the car park was just the start of a great event. The course while mainly trail is extremely flat and I'm sure would be good for a PB.

Once again I was fortunate enough to meet Wayne for now the 2nd or 3rd event this year. With someone to run and chat with plus the constant changing scenery it is easy to suddenly find your self several miles into the course and then suddenly at the end with all the distractions. While we both where setting a good pace and enjoying the route we found oursleves slightly slowed down by a rider and their horse who had been taken by surprise by the large number of runners meaning the rider was then unable to control their horse. While I felt guilty about not stopping to help, there where already to many people trying to help.

All in all though from both a spectators (with stalls including small cake stand) and especially a runners perspectative this is a great event with a well marshalled and friendly course. Talking about spectators - thank-you to Carol and family for their support at the event - over from America.

With the chip timing adding to the quick results, the Icing on the cake was the great idea of a Horse Brass rather than the traditional medal. I can see why so many people do this event again and again.
