Update 24th March - Antarctica Marathon
|
A great way to reach 1000 miles Having completed 974 miles on a whole range of surfaces and climates I was still not prepared for the glacier - but never the less thoroughly enjoyed the challenges this event offered. As with so many of the events this year I meet some great people and experienced more amazing parts of the world. As funds are still being received the total amount raised with everyone's help should be over £125,000 for both charities. I hope you feel your donations have been earned by the physical challenges I've completed and the benefits it will make to so many children and young adults. |

Thanks for taking the time to visit my website and share in my dream, which thanks to B&Q is coming true. Since March 2007, B&Q has been supporting me with time off - from my role with them as a Management Accountant - and funding, to embark on the challenge of a lifetime. My plan at the outset was to run 600 miles on six continents but having just secured a place to run a marathon on the seventh and final continent, I've upped the anti and am now aiming to run 1,000 miles and complete a marathon all seven continents. I'm doing this in order to make a difference to the lives of my four-year-old nephew, Morgan, his seven-year old brother, Aiden, and the 8,000 other babies, children and young adults in the UK, who live with Cystic Fibrosis. The challenge, is literally taking my breath away and is particularly pertinent to Cystic Fibrosis sufferers, whose lungs are covered in a sticky mucus, significantly reducing their lung capacity, often leaving them breathless. Physical activities and sports are encouraged to expand lung function and keep the sticky mucus, which permanently sits at the bottom of the lungs, moving around to prevent it from getting infected. The reality for many with the disease though, is that even a small amount of physical exercise can leave them virtually breathless. It has long been a dream of mine to travel to some of the best running events in the world and thanks to B&Q and the support of a great many people, this year I am being given the opportunity to fulfill my dream whilst also making a difference for Cystic Fibrosis charities. I update this website regularly, so keep logging on, to keep up and stay on track!
